Just finished a load of Christmas Crafts from Australia's 'Better Homes & Gardens' Magazine... I made 3 dolls in total - they were all very well received by the little girls I made them for including my daughter.</div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 234px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vylyyx2DG40/TRzynF7BkHI/AAAAAAAAAR8/VDkPShrm-cw/s320/DSC_0001.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5556582793686913138" /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><div style="text-align: center;">I went a bit shawl-tastic before Christmas making gifts of lace shawls this year for friends & family... (That was one of the reasons for the baby knitting - the other was my brother had a baby the same week we brought ours home.</div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I have my hands full now with toddler, baby and puppy - despite that keeping me from the computer I haven't let that stop me finding a little time to craft...I have been working on this quilt which I am making from all of my daughter's baby clothes - its so nice to be able to keep all of her baby clothes without having a huge stash of clothing for no reason :o) Its </div><div><div style="text-align: center;">lovely looking at it whilst I'm working on it as I remember each & every outfit and where she wore it.</div><div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 213px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vylyyx2DG40/TDftVKgbq3I/AAAAAAAAARI/Ae_wJbdJSBM/s320/DSC_0045.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5492119218455030642" /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div></div><div style="text-align: center;">I have also been working on a couple of knitting projects... one is Ice Queen from Knitty - Rosemary Hill - this has beading in it which I am enjoying...</div><div><br /></div><div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vylyyx2DG40/TDfxiq3x5NI/AAAAAAAAARQ/eYL_Fv0NP7I/s320/DSC_0039.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5492123848527701202" /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div></div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">and the other is a Drops Pattern - No 119-1 Long jacket with short sleeves knitted side to side. I am knitting the Garnstudio design up in Vintage Purls sock yarn & am just adoring the colour - it matches all of the greys, purples & greens that I have clothes in so will be a welcome addition to my winter wardrobe when I get time to finish it!!</div><div><br /></div><div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vylyyx2DG40/TDfyRH81hYI/AAAAAAAAARg/WFy16HGtfus/s320/DSC_0042.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5492124646607521154" /><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 298px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vylyyx2DG40/TDfyQkxLO3I/AAAAAAAAARY/JKlvqYvxRH8/s320/DSC_0041.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5492124637163371378" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Anyway more later - back for now to baby milk and changing nappies!!</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div></div>Charlisahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15477949766187243299noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-709848229670776615.post-60668566725337328032010-04-07T20:51:00.001-07:002010-04-07T21:29:51.812-07:00Easter Bonnets<div style="text-align: center;">Eastertime here means the onset of Autumn, clocks changing to wintertime, being indoors more, and.... winter knitting! We had a bit of an Easter party for friends and indulged in some chocolate goodies</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 213px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vylyyx2DG40/S71bhCcVeEI/AAAAAAAAARA/cZw6KixhAmA/s320/DSC_0040.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5457618946592438338" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">The weather is still warm but there's a slight chill in the air that promises winter is just around the corner. So I knitted up my <a href="http://ysolda.com/patterns/accessories/hats/snapdragon-tam/">Snapdragon Tam</a> over Easter to match the Snapdragon Flip-Tops I made during March so that I am fully prepared for winter walks on the beach. I used a thicker yarn than that recommended and my 'Tam' ended up being a Beanie instead! I'm pleased with the results though.</div><div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vylyyx2DG40/S71TuKqMz8I/AAAAAAAAAQQ/6wp0NWWv_zs/s320/CSC_0033.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5457610376043352002" /><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 245px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vylyyx2DG40/S71TuoaYi9I/AAAAAAAAAQY/VZ-A4N1gntM/s320/DSC_0030.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5457610384030075858" /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I've also been stockpiling <a href="http://www.vintagepurls.co.nz/">Vintage Purls</a> Sock yarn for my sock blankie I'm making for my daughter - look at these lovely colours... so pretty - I can't wait to finish the blanket but it is a long-term project so will take a while!!</div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 272px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vylyyx2DG40/S71Ya5ZkFeI/AAAAAAAAAQw/4zanXMPgDVM/s320/DSC_0027.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5457615542550795746" /></div><div style="text-align: center;">The top left square contains the colours on which I am basing the blanket, yellows, greens, pinks, peaches and oranges. In between projects I am knitting a few squares - the plain squares I am making on the knitting machine when I have time as this is super-quick way to knit up squares and gives such a perfect evenness to the stitches. So tonight I will be knitting up some lovely peachy squares.</div>Charlisahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15477949766187243299noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-709848229670776615.post-70127529138564014522010-03-30T18:42:00.000-07:002010-03-30T18:47:47.826-07:00Click-clack ahhh the sound of knitting needles!<div style="text-align: center;">Am happy to be knitting things for myself again... have started by doing Ysolda's 'Snapdragon Flip Top Mittens' in Vintage Purls Perendale Worsted - Ruby Tuesday colour - such lovely hand-dyed yarn to knit with & such a cool pattern. My sister-in-law is pregnant so I thought I would get ahead of the game and make a baby stash. I started a Debbie Bliss alphabet blanket and it quickly became apparent that trying to knit and look after a 3 year old and crazy puppy weren't a good combination, so that blanket got ripped about 2 months in. I then had the dolls to make for Christmas, and then I got a Phildar Naissance book which has some beautiful, simple knits in it and I decided that the baby blankie in there was perfect for baby George... fingers crossed his parents like red!! It has turned into a Christmas gift so red is a good colour!!</div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 318px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vylyyx2DG40/SxSAjDx3ZFI/AAAAAAAAAM4/Sz7J8kj4Q3s/s320/DSC_0146.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5410090392177042514" /><div style="text-align: center;">I love the heart on the blanket (and the fact its not colourwork, but sewn on afterwards with a different coloured yarn).</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Now I have 4 gifts to make for my daughter's kindy teachers... hmmm what to make....?!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I'm also blocking the 2nd of the 2 shawls I knocked up on the knitting machine - this one is a proper lace pattern - looking forward to finishing it off with tassels and wearing it...</div><div><br /></div><div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 188px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vylyyx2DG40/SxSEgpnwM3I/AAAAAAAAANA/Smm-mPneaTo/s320/DSC_0146.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5410094748842079090" /><div><br /></div><div><br /></div></div>Charlisahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15477949766187243299noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-709848229670776615.post-30961691443259775582009-11-15T11:25:00.000-08:002009-11-17T17:37:14.383-08:00Machining away...<div style="text-align: center;">I finally had a bit of time to play with the machine this weekend - had great fun!!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I knocked up a lace stole in an hour - although the finishing took</div><div style="text-align: center;"> about 3 hours!</div><div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vylyyx2DG40/SwNLHkBR9sI/AAAAAAAAAMY/ESyy_kY20Wo/s320/DSC_0160.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5405246571074942658" /><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vylyyx2DG40/SwNL6iuXb5I/AAAAAAAAAMg/vQ2E4tu4C3U/s320/DSC_0161.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5405247446900502418" /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I've also knit up a larger lace shawl in a lovely beige colour, but still have the finishing and blocking to do on it.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div></div><div><div style="text-align: center;">My hand-knitting has taken a bit of a bashing!! I kept on putting this off as I had made so many of these dolls earlier this year, and now I only have 4 days to get my big parcel with all of the Christmas and birthday gifts from New Zealand to England as my parents' birthdays late this week!! Oops - hope Dad doesn't mind!! Just finished her...</div><div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 213px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vylyyx2DG40/SuZEE6VUWzI/AAAAAAAAALw/NuW-GWsSK44/s320/DSC_0139.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5397076054618954546" /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div></div><div style="text-align: center;">I ran out of yarn on her dress so made her a small pair of shorts for modesty!!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 213px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vylyyx2DG40/SuZFJ1GLqpI/AAAAAAAAAL4/F3X5bNcJhE0/s320/DSC_0140.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5397077238624266898" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I have one last one of these dolls to do for a friend's daughter fro her Christmas gift and then I'm putting the pattern away for a LOOOONG time. I'm knitting up scarves as Christmas pressies as I've got no imagination or time this year to do more complicated projects - I have finished Dad's skinny scarf - just a plain rib made with Vintage Purls Sock Yarn - so soft & cosy - bit difficult to send this one off!!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 226px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vylyyx2DG40/Std8mgqO24I/AAAAAAAAALA/e_okoWj2JzM/s320/DSC_0145.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5392916079843400578" /><br /></div><div><div style="text-align: center;">Also managed to fit a quick scarf in for myself - cost all of $2 to make!! My daughter is now badgering me for a 'sparkly scarf' like Mummy's but I still have one for my niece and a doll to make so she might be in for a little wait!</div></div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 210px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vylyyx2DG40/Std8--pkRTI/AAAAAAAAALI/c-stfAFfvK8/s320/DSC_0144.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5392916500210533682" /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I've also started knitting up squares of Vintage Purls yarns - this is going to be a LONG project - my plan is to make a beautiful bedspread for my daughter's bed - cosy but thin blanket - so with the varigated yarn I am doing plain stockinette stitch and the more solid colours I am planning on lovely lace squares all in pastel shades. My plan is to do a square after each project I complete.
